The Thief of Paris: Intense comedy-drama with personal problems turning Belmondo to thievery for reprisal against the world. Eventually he finds that robbery has become his entire life. The Pleasure Garden: Hitchcock's first work, shot in Munich is a choppy account of a pair of chorus gals, one sugary and knowing, the other a waif. Buck Privates: Un-contemporary although engaging Army opus with Bud and Lou inadvertently registering. Brassy melodies (containing Andrews Sister's "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy") and subplots get in the way, however A&C's regimens are amid their best; their first featuring film.
